This is a strange time in the life of Into Africa to be celebrating a 30 year anniversary. Celebrations have to be muted because of the damage that has been done to the tourism industry by COVID-19. It is though important to recognize this significant milestone. Rather than look back on the long business relationships we have enjoyed and the many successful events we have delivered, I want to focus on the people at Into Africa – they merit special recognition. Into Africa is a service business and it is the quality of the team here that makes all the difference. 30 years in business means nothing if you don’t have continuity – relationships values knowledge and experience which you can carry forward. We have that in abundance.
Unfortunately we have had to downsize the business because of COVID but the distillation effect only serves to illustrate the collective years of experience we have in our team. Vicki and I first worked together in 1995. Luci, Marele, Elaine, Karen all have a history going back to late 90s. Luciano has been with us for 10 years and Nuraan and Karin 6 and 5 years. Anthea and Anna together have 5 year’s experience. I have deliberately left Frances (17 years) and Alex (10 years) to last. They are both shareholders in Into Africa and will taking the business forward post COVID. In looking back over all that has been achieved in 30 years it is wonderful to recognise that so many of the people who helped make this possible form the team that will shape the next 20 years.
We wouldn’t have been able to achieve a fraction of our success without the support and relationships we enjoy with our partners – both suppliers and clients – and would like to send out a message of thanks to you all. I am sure you’ll all endorse how important long term partnerships are and how the service ethic, professionalism and values of the team at Into Africa contribute hugely to these partnerships.
