Our hot take as a Cape Town based DMC - summer isn Our hot take as a Cape Town based DMC - summer isn’t necessarily the best time of year to visit!

Okay - don’t get us wrong. Cape Town summers can be fantastic. There's energy, there’s a lot happening and there’s hot, sunny weather (perfect for beach days).

But it can be overcrowded, peak season rates can be expensive and the weather can be intense - it’s both the hottest and windiest time of year.

Our recommendation? Consider visiting in autumn between March and May. You’ll skip the crowds and peak season rates AND soak in Cape Town at its finest - warm, sunny days without the extreme wind and heat.

The winter months offer their own unique experiences too. Though the weather may be cooler and rainer, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy gourmet food or a wine tasting tucked inside a cosy restaurant or wine cellar. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the landscapes become greener and more vibrant, with the cooler temperatures being perfect for adventuring. Whale season picks up from June through November - making winter the perfect time to do some whale watching!
