Of course, no celebration would be complete without a true South African favourite – the braai!
Affectionately known as Braai Day, 24 September brings people from all walks of life together around the fire, sharing good food, laughter, and the warmth of community.
It’s more than just a holiday – it’s a day to celebrate who we are, where we come from and the vibrant spirit that unites us all.

Another beautiful thread that unites us across all 12 official language groups is our shared spirit of uplifting our communities and volunteering. Into Africa is very proud of the difference we are making through our Heart and Soul Project, which supports vulnerable young women who have suffered stress and trauma as a result of gangsterism and other social challenges.
To strengthen this work, we recently introduced a levy to help fund the efforts of mental health practitioner Louise Niemann, to reach-out to these young women. Louise works through the dogs and horses at Dassenberg Rescue Centre to build trust and to teach life-skills.
As Louise says: “It’s amazing to see the girls visibly relax around the animals, making my job so much easier!”
