We are fortunate to be able to view whales, dolphins, seals and sharks in the coastal waters around Cape Town. A breaching Southern Right Whale is a hugely impressive sight. It is, however, the Great White, that fascinates people. Shark Cage diving as an option on an incentive program is incredibly popular despite the early start. Apex Shark Expeditions operates out of Simons Town. They are highly knowledgeable and their area of operation in False Bay includes Seal Island which is famous for the unique breaching behavior that the great white shark uses to hunt the cape fur seals. Apex have worked on documentaries for Discovery Channel. Simon’s Town is proving to be a very real alternative to Gansbaai.
