Veganism is a life-style choice that has sustainability at its very core.

We are very excited about the vegan restaurant in Kloof Street Cape Town, a mecca for young travellers.

They strive for the most conscious way of eating, producing and consuming. From the suppliers they buy fruit and veggies from, to the farmers that grow them, to the packaging they use, and the staff they hire. In everything they do, they ask us the question: “How can we do this in the most conscious way?”. For Conscious Kitchen that means eating mostly plants, no processed foods and refined sugars. It also means staying away from plastic and other non-biodegradable packaging. It includes recycling, limiting wastage, and paying fair wages to their staff.

Conscious Kitchen tries to source all their products locally and organic wherever possible- the fruits and veggies are way more nutritious, taste better, and supports community’s sustainability. The bulk of their veggies is grown by small-scale organic farmers in disadvantaged areas like Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Nyanga, Mitchells Plain, Philippi and Malmesbury.

We hope that by giving Conscious Kitchen a shout out here, that more tourists with support this amazing business.

Over the next few months, we plan to give a big shout out to sustainability businesses like Conscious Kitchen.  If you would like to submit your project for this campaign, please email events@intoafrica.co.za or call 021 430 2060.
