Cape Town set for a bumper season!’With flight capacity ramped up to 100% of 2019 levels, the cruise season back in full swing and an impressive line-up of international events, the City of Cape Town is set for a summer season rivalling that of pre-COVID times.’ According to the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, James Vos191 International flights per week Vos said the City’s work to secure new air routes from the US, Belgium and Mozambique, along with the return of international airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, had now recovered passenger numbers for the high season to 100% of 2019 figures. “Between now and March 2023, we have 1.68 million two-way seats available and will hit 191 international flights per week,” Vos said. In celebration of these fantastic developments we plan to soar into 2023 running a series of newsletters that focus on flights:- starting with domestic flights and then broadening out into regional air routes. Big attractions are beach, wildlife and restaurants Cape Town is well known for it’s beautiful white sandy beaches and the city has gone to some lengths to ensure it is prepared for an influx of visitors. The city has focused on safety, transport and cleanliness and have employed over 4,000 people to ensure everyone has a pleasant visit. Those looking for a tropical island experience may be interested to note that there are now direct flights between Cape Town and Maputo in Mozambique and also between Johannesburg and Zanzibar. The Tourism Sentiment Index reports that Wildlife Viewing in South Africa ranked in the top 10 in the world for this tourism asset. Direct flights to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport from Cape Town makes access to the Kruger National Park and surrounding private game reserves that much easier. Another air link that literally opens up a world of possibilities is the Kenya Air flight which routes from Cape Town to Victoria Falls to Nairobi. Many will not be surprised to learn that South Africa’s restaurants also scored very highly in The Tourism Sentiment Index.
