As we come to the close on Women’s Month we’d like to take a moment to reflect.

It’s important not to confuse South Africa’s Women’s Day with International Women’s Day, which is marked globally in March. South Africa has its own dedicated day of recognition rooted in our country’s history and struggle which makes it uniquely significant to us.

National Women’s Day, celebrated on 9 August each year, commemorates the 1956 Women’s March to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, when more than 20,000 women stood together in protest against unjust pass laws. It is a reminder of the strength, courage, and resilience of South African women.

At Into Africa, this celebration is especially meaningful as we are proud to be a woman-led company. This year, Women’s Month brought a very special milestone: Jen Wulff, our Senior Project Manager, was awarded Incentive Planner of the Year at the Women in MICE Awards, hosted by 4Mal Media at Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg. This recognition highlights not only Jen’s dedication and creativity, but also the incredible women driving innovation and excellence in our industry.

Looking ahead, we now turn our attention to Heritage Month in September a time to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes South Africa unique. Heritage Day on 24 September encourages all South Africans to embrace their traditions, languages, and shared history.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing how Into Africa celebrates our heritage and how we weave it into the experiences, programmes, and itineraries we create. Follow us on our social platforms to see how we showcase the best of our heritage to the world.

At Into Africa, we are proud to celebrate women, culture, and heritage – not only in August and September, but every day of the year.
